Every year the Linux User Group Bozen-Bolzano-Bulsan confers the “South Tyrol Free Software Award” (SFS Award). The award is given to a person who contributed to the introduction of the culture of Free Software in the Province of Bolzano.

The Free Software Award 2024 was delivered to Angelika Stuefer with Franca Riesch De Pasquale.

Saturday, October 26 starting at 9:30 a.m. the Linux Day 2024 - South Tyrol will be held at the Istituto Salesiano Rainerum in Bozen/Bolzano. It’s an event that is celebrated nationwide in more than 40 cities with many live talks, parallel sessions and the chance to connect with enthusiasts, curious people, professionals and volunteers in every part of Italy!

With great pleasure we report today that the FUSS Project receives the endorsement of the European Parents Association (EPA) for its 19-year-long work in the areas of digital sustainability and sovereignty, IT circular economy, and protection of digital rights of students, teachers, and families.

The EPA brings together parent associations in Europe, which together represent more than 150 million parents.

Lunedì 17 giugno è partita l’edizione 2024 della MiniBZ, la Città dei Ragazzi - Kinderstadt - Zità di Mutons che si tiene presso la Fiera di Bolzano. 900 iscritti dai 7 ai 14 anni popolano per due settimane una città in miniatura con tanto di municipio, anagrafe, ufficio di collocamento, giornale, cinema, teatro, sportello bancario e decine di altri settori nei quali ragazze e ragazzi possono lavorare e guadagnare il denaro della MiniBZ che si chiama Euro-Ghello spendibile nella città.

Per la prima volta quest’anno la città si è dotata di un’infrastruttura digitale con circa 80 personal computer connessi in rete, ciascuno dei quali ha a bordo il sistema operativo FUSS, sviluppato a partire dal 2005 dall’omonimo servizio dell’Intendenza Scolastica italiana della Provincia Autonoma di Bolzano ed in uso in tutte le scuole di ogni ordine e grado e liberamente anche dalle famiglie.

Lunedì 8 aprile 2024 dalle ore 17:00 alle 19:00 si terrà presso il Liceo Scientifico “Toniolo” ed in contemporanea in videoconferenza il corso “Didattica al cubo” sulle vaste potenzialità didattiche di Minetest. Il relatore, Marco Amato (Zughy) è contributore e membro della squadra principale del progetto.

Minetest è un applicativo sandbox basato su voxel, oggetti 3D, molti dei quali semplici cubi, comunemente chiamati “nodi” all’interno di una griglia regolare. Il concetto di “voxel” di Minetest è simile a quello dei blocchi da costruzione (come i blocchi LEGO). Nel mondo interattivo si possono usare i “blocchi” per costruire oggetti e attrezzi di uso quotidiano.

Free Software contributors do important work for our society and they deserve to be recognised. “I Love Free Software Day”, celebrated on 14 February, is the perfect opportunity for you to express your special gratitude and show your appreciation for Free Software. The LUGBZ, the FUSS Project and ERESiA will host the Event in South Tyrol.
